Take a Walk

By Marty Nemko

One of my favorite stress busters is a short walk outside. It feels liberating. Besides, the exercise increases circulation and therefore brainpower. If you're a manager, show you endorse short walks by doing it yourself and by conducting one-on-one meetings with employees while walking. Signs you need a walk or other break: stupid mistakes, inability to concentrate, lack of progress, burning eyes, and muscle cramps. (Adapted from an article by Maura Gallagher, Staples.com.)

What can you do today?
Next time you feel stressed or stuck, take a five-minute walk. Is that more helpful than your usual break?
