Job Seekers' Biggest Mistake
By Marty Nemko
Most job seekers hate the process of looking for a job, so they take the path of least resistance. They simply tell a few friends they're looking for a job. Mistake. The odds are tiny of a great-fit job coming from such an apathetic job search.
To stand a decent chance of landing a job with all the right stuff: good salary, coworkers, tasks, work environment, commute, etc., you usually must make many inquiries to your personal network, answer plenty of ads, and pitch hiring managers at desired organizations even if they don't have posted ads.
What can you do today?Promise yourself you'll do a thorough job search rather than just take what drops in your lap.
