Getting Your Job Tailored to Fit You

By Marty Nemko

For a suit to look great, it usually must be tailored to fit you. Same with your job. Would any of these tailorings make your job fit better: A revised job description that capitalizes on your strengths? A piece of equipment? A project of your own? More feedback? A new challenge? More time in the field or in the office? A change in who you work with? Different work hours? Working 7-3 instead of 9-5 avoids traffic jams, plus you're home to greet your kids after school.

What can you do today?
Is it time to ask your boss for any of these or other ways to tailor the job to fit you?
