Avoiding Desperation

Whether you're looking for a job, renegotiating salary, or seeking a romantic partner, you gotta appear confident. But that's tough to do when you're desperate. The answer lies in an old proverb, "The mouse with but one hole is easily taken." Always have a backup. If you're scheduled for a job interview, keep generating other leads. Before renegotiating salary, put feelers out into the marketplace--your current employer probably isn't the only fool willing to pay you big bucks. Looking for romance? Well, how's that for an excuse to play the field? So if you have but one hole, drill others.
